Teatro del Carmen, Velez-Málaga 2007

In June 2007, the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje and Lama Ole Nydahl inaugurated the exhibition “Buddhist Art from Tibet” that was shown for the first time in Spain in the Teatro del Carmen and was supported by the Diamond Way Buddhism Foundation. The composition of the exhibition displayed path and goal of Buddhist practice, which in Tibetan Buddhism are combined in the so-called Refuge Tree—a kind of genealogy of eminent Buddhist forms. Together with many gold-plated statues and precious scroll paintings (Tib. thangkas) from the Himalayas, the special highlight of the show was an antique stone statue from the Gandhara period.
